Earth

Earth is our home planet. It is the only planet in the solar system on which we have found life. It is also the largest of the terrestrial planets (the four rocky planets closest to the sun). It is the only planet in the solar system with water in its three phases (solid, liquid and gas). The planet is just right for life. If it were any closer to the sun, it would be too hot, if it were farther from the sun, it would be too cold.

Earth has four different seasons because of its titly of 23.5° Some think that the season result from being closer to the sun in the summer and farther from the sun in the winter. This is not true, the Earth is almost always the same distance from the sun.

The earth has nickel/iron core which makes it heavy for its size. It also has a heavy atmosphere made of mostly nitrogen and oxygen. Its surface is made up of mostly water. Water covers about 75% of the Earth's surface. The rest is land masses, 7 main continents and thousands of islands.
